Exerpt
from Mind Cure
"The
boardroom of the hospital was an imposing place, with dark oak paneling
on the walls and ceiling and a long rectangular table in the center
of the room. A large crystal chandelier dimly lit the room in yellow
light. All 20 board members sat around the table. Most wore black
or dark navy suits. The board members were composed of many of Los
Angeles' most prominent businessmen and women, as well as several
senior physicians on the medical staff. They were a shrewd but practical
bunch. At one end of the table sat David Meyers, nervously playing
with his tie. There was an air of discomfort in the room. The board
members knew that it was not going to be a pleasant meeting."
